Sea Change

Sea Change (2011- ) is a visual novel about the missing and the missed. This sprawling multimedia project chronicles the disappearances of nine characters over nine chapters that will unfold over the artist’s lifetime. The first instalment, Chapter 1: Character 1: In the Rough, focuses on a geologist in search of quartz. Evidence of this journey reveals itself as a network of material traces including manic field notes, pseudo-scientific drawings, geological maps and survey guides, returned love letters, dragged and left objects and spliced photographs and film. Folded into this narrative is the current geopolitical context, the sea as a space that holds the promise of passage, that holds the dual capacity to provide and destroy.
